Heatwave

I h.a.t.e hot weather. Like, HATE it. Actually, I take that back – HATE is not strong enough. I’m not sure what’s stronger than hate – but whatever it is – that’s how I feel about hot weather.

Especially when it’s humid to boot. BLAH!!!! I get migraines and I get cranky crankier.

This past Monday – was one of those hot days that makes me want to vomit. But Saturday – was not so bad…

We took the girls to my mom & Greg’s & they went swimming…I’m dealing with an infection/ear/sinus thing – so there was no way I was getting in the waters & possibly getting water in my ears!

This weekend it’s forecasted to be MUCH cooler – so thankful for that. I hope you’re staying cool in your part of the world…

Smoothies - it's what's for breakfast!

In my quest to eat more healthy & for Cadence to feel full & energized in school, I have been making smoothies for us to drink in the mornings.

I know the health benefits of avocados & wondered how one would taste in a smoothie. Turns out, they taste pretty darn good!

1 avocado
1 banana
1 cup of almond milk
8 ice cubs
¼ cup of water
1 tsp of vanilla
2 tbsp of ground flax seed
mmm…mmm…good!

Cadence finished hers on the way to school!

Mother's Day weekend..

The weather this past weekend was BEAUTIFUL!! I was ready to go outside & enjoy it.

First up, though, lunch w/my lovely friend, Lynn. She moved to MD a few months ago & was in town to visit – I was lucky enough to have her pencil me in for a lunch date.
The girls were supposed to go to my MIL’s but she didn’t get home in time & I didn’t have time to wait. They went with us & were pretty good during lunch. Thanks my little lovelies.

After lunch we cleaned out the car, got some ice cream, visited Andrea & played outside.

By 5 o’clock we were ready for Daddy to come home – so we headed west & picked him up at Greg’s…where he had spent the day doing body work to Greg’s car.  The girls visited Nana for about 10 mins & played in the backyard while we waiting for Dennis to finish up.

When he climbed into the car, he let out a big sigh & suggested pizza for dinner. YUM! By the time we actually got home, it was after 7. We ate dinner, changed into jammies and cuddled on the couch watching tv.

Mother’s Day was fantastic.

I was given a beautiful potted flower from Bryleigh (she made it in her play evaluation at pre-school!)

& a hanging basket from Cadence.

Plus both girls made me cards!

My mom, Greg, sister, Jaiden, brother, Jenny & all their respective kids came over & we cooked out. The kids played outside & both of my girls were EXHAUSTED by the end of the nite!

I hope you had a great weekend & Mother’s Day as well!

Photogenic Bug, Dancing Queen & Chai turns 9!

Bryleigh LOVES being the center of attention & as soon as the camera comes out – she poses. It cracks me up just how much she loves getting her picture taken. After all the pictures I’ve taken, you’d think it’d be like pulling teeth – but nope – she puts her hands on her hips & smiles..

Tina’s wedding was BEAUTIFUL! I wish I had more pictures – but they were on my phone…which Bryleigh dropped in water…boo.

This picture shows Bryleigh having a blast dancing…

I also have a video of Bry dancing at Aunt Kathy & Steve’s wedding. Holy dancing – the girl didn’t stop!! She was a hit on the dance floor.

Malachai’s 9th b/day party was at Nickel World. The kids always have fun there. I hate the smell of change – so I don’t really partake in the games – but watching the girls play is fun for me.

Cadence was excited to turn her tickets in for a pair of fangs..ooohh – scary!

Aiden was freaked out by Bryleigh's hyperness...

And it seems every kid in the family loves Monster High!!

We're pretty lucky to have so many kids in the family & for them to all love each other  :)

Ozone Depletion...

It's March and it's in the 90's! I'm not really enjoying this one bit.  I LOVE spring/fall weather & this..well this is summer weather & it's got to go.  I'm due at least 2 more months of spring, dammit!
During this display of ozone depletion, we hit up Tony’s Cones & Coney’s to help cool us off! Cadence fell in love w/the peanut butter ice cream flavor. Yum!

On a different note, Bryleigh tortures Hudson & Lola on an hourly basis. So I had the brilliant idea of getting her another kitten. I.AM.AN.IDIOT! We got a boy kitten, which we (Bryleigh) named Bud Bud. I think b/c it’s similar to Bug Bug, which is what we call her & she can actually say it.

Well, Bud Bud is only 5 wks old & still has claws. FML. I hate claws. I hate kittens. Bud Bud is also the most aggressive kitten I’ve ever met. He can be so sweet & loving & the minute you have food, the little carnivorous bastard attacks you for it. He bit Bry in the mouth b/c he wanted to get the food out of it. WHAT?! He chased the dogs & played w/their tails like they were cat toys. Poor Gizzie couldn’t get him off of her..ever.
He used his claws every time he jumped on/off of us. It was terrible.

Finally, after 3 wks of torture, we switched kittens. I wanted a male b/c they are usually laid back & can handle the kids torturing them. Ya know, the kids break their spirit & they’re fine w/it. Girls are bitches, and let’s be honest, that doesn’t just run in the cat family.

Well our new kitten, Maizey, is a girl. She’s nowhere near as aggressive as Bud Bud & she’s quite cuddly. She purrs SOOO loud I can hear her coming from a few feet away.

Order is returning in our house now that Bud Bud is gone. We still can’t wait til Sept – when she’s old enough to be declawed. But at least she’s more gentle than Bud.

Dear Wendy,

I don’t think there is anything I can say that would explain how wonderfully sweet you were. Your warm, welcoming smile – your sweet jokes and beautiful laugh.

You were my Grandma’s best friend, more like a little sister. You were friends for over a decade, but it seems you were always part of our family. You comforted my Gramma during hard times and us in the process knowing she had someone so wonderful, 1200 miles away, with her. There are no words to thank you for that.

When you started showing signs of alzheimers, we all hurt for your. We knew how scared you were to advance like your mother. For 10 long years, you battled the disease. You were a strong woman during those years, as you were when you took care of Rick & your mother.

I know you are happy to be home with Rick, your baby & Blondie. You are whole and no longer hurting.

We love you Grandma #2!
