Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that I'm back to TWO shots a day!!!!!!!!!! Who would have thought I'd be excited about TWO shots?! A week of four would make anyone happy for two.

I'm thankful that Dennis is healing well after his surgery.

I’m thankful that I'm 24 wks pregnant today - 16 wks til this baby comes on out

I'm thankful that Dennis is home on restriction (can't drive or do anything really) so that I don't have to send Cadence to daycare during the swine flu scare (go to this blog & see that I'm NOT alone… )

I'm thankful that the heat from earlier this week is gone. I know, I was complaining about snow a month ago & now I’m complaining about heat - there is no satisfying me!

I'm thankful that Cadence is enjoying being at home & not really complaining about missing school.

I'm thankful that tomorrow is Friday - I'm ready!

Lastly, I'm thankful that I was able to buy these sandals for Cadence 1/2 off b/c she loved them & I didn't & having to pay full price for them would have hurt me more than words can say..

15..1/2 way to 30 you know :)

Dear Whitney,

When I woke up this morning, I realized you were 15 today!! Where has the time gone?!! I wonder what your plans are today. ONE MORE YEAR until you can drive. YIKES! When I turned 15, I was focused on the fact that it was ½ way to 30 – haha. I wonder what you’re thinking about.

As always, I hope that today is wonderful and you’re surrounded by those that love you

Happy 15th birthday to you, sweetheart! <3
Love always,

Dennis, Missy, & Cadence

Light at the End of the Tunnel

It's just been one of those weeks. Where you feel like the weight of the world is lying on your shoulders & nothing seems to go right. No matter what you do, it's wrong, no matter how you feel, it's wrong, no matter what you say, it's wrong.

One of those weeks where you just want to stay in bed & keep your head under the blankets. However, in the real world, that's not possible.

And unfortunately I've been having one of those weeks. Financially, emotionally & physically - everything is going wrong & it's draining every bit of energy out of me.

It started w/my dr informing me they were upping my dose of lovenox. It's not bad, only 20 mg, but I still have a weeks worth of 100 mg left. I have to finish that week (I mean for $6300/mo, my ins comp isn't going to be happy if I waste a weeks worth) of 100 mg before my new script of 120 mg is filled.

Lovenox comes in pre-filled syringes. All I have to do is open the package, take off the lid & stick myself twice a day. Because of that weeks worth - I had to pick up a box of 30 mg shots, to take w/my 100 mg shots. So that's 4 shots a day.

Yes, I get that it's only for a week…but how about this…you take 2 shots a day for 5 months & have a nice bruised belly & then YOU add 2 more shots a day…but tell yourself…it's only for a WEEK. Believe me, a week is almost like an eternity. Especially when you're so bruised that you can't find a spot for your 100 mg shots.

Yes, I'm thankful I'm pregnant & this is what I have to do to be pregnant. Fine…It keeps me from miscarrying & from developing DVT's. I'm thankful there is something that can allow me to be pregnant & carry to term - I'm THANKFUL that my insurance company pays the $6300/mo for it. But sometimes, that little bit extra…well it just adds to 'one of those weeks'.

I have more money going out than coming in…but it seems there are a lot of people w/that problem. My utility bills are obnoxious, particularly my gas - but that's b/c this place is NOT energy efficient.

Yesterday as I was on my way to Flower Hospital to see Dennis - which just adds to 'one of those weeks', who was admitted b/c of the pain in his side & he had an abnormal CT, I just wanted to ball. I was tired & hungry & drained. I had the radio on, but it was very low. I listen to the Christian rock station in the car b/c Cadence doesn't need to hear the other stuff. Anyway, the song playing was called Tunnel, by Third Day. The first line I heard was...

"There's a light at the end of this tunnel"

I wanted to cry…I was almost there anyway & that just about sent me over the edge.

Yesterday while at work, Dennis was calling frequently to check in & let me know what the dr. said. At 2:10, the dr. still hadn't been in to see him. At 2:30, he called me & said, they're taking me to surgery in 10 mins! WHAT?! TEN MINUTES?!

Luckily 10 minutes turned into 1 1/2 hrs, so I was able to see him before he went back but still it was very frustrating & stressful. Rushing to get to Flower, arranging a pick-up for Cadence, figuring out dinner, etc.

His surgery was a success & when he finally comes home, he'll be short an appendix. Thankfully, it never burst, it was infected.

He won't be able to come home til tomorrow…but I'm happy he's ok. I can't wait for him to get home - I didn't think that him being gone for 3 days would make much a huge impact since he works evenings, but it has - we miss him.

For those that are interested - here are the rest of the lyrics to Tunnel:

I won't pretend to know what you're thinking
I can't begin to know what you're going through
I won't deny the pain that you're feeling
But I'm gonna try and give a little hope to you
Just remember what I've told you
There's so much you're living for
There's a light at the end of this tunnel
There's a light at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
There's a light at the end of this tunnel
Shinin' bright at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
So keep holdin' on
You've got your disappointments and sorrows
You ought to share the weight of that load with me
Then you will find that the light of tomorrow
Brings a new life for your eyes to see
So remember what I've told you
There's so much you're living for

Thankful Thursday!

I'm thankful that it's Thursday b/c that means tomorrow is Friday!

I'm thankful that the weather is going to be warm for a few days - Cadence can go outside to ride her bike.

I'm thankful that I slept so well last nite - the nite before was pretty bad and I really needed the rest.

I'm thankful that work wasn't extremely hot today.

I'm thankful that my ob dr. is so friendly.

I'm thankful that I'm 22 wks today & baby looks healthy even if the head looks a little large (per Dennis' mom)

I'm thankful Alices' knee surgery went well.

I'm thankful that I found Heather yesterday.

I'm thankful that no matter how long it's been since Heather & I see each other, her kids still give us big hugs when they see us - now, if only Cadence wouldn't freeze up when it's time to say bye to Aunt Heather!

I'm OVERLY thankful that Dr. B took the time today to look for the baby's sex & she's 98% sure it's a GIRL!

I know - not very deep or profound - I'm thankful for the deep & profound, but today, I'm tired, so I'm thankful I was able to get through this post!

Pregnancy Dreams

I've heard that dreams while you're pregnant are completely whacked & I for one, agree!
I had a dream that Kim Kardashian (I LOVE Keeping Up w/the Kardashians) was giving me my u/s & she asked "Do you want to know?" I said, "YES!" she said, "It's a girl! What are you going to name her?" to which I replied "You're the one that told me, so I'm going to name her after you."
Is that not hilarious?! And if we have a girl, I'm not naming her Kim. I just loved that dream - it was so funny & during the u/s Kim was nice & looked cute like she always does. It was hilarious.

After an extremely LONG day at work yesterday, I headed over to check out the daycare we're hoping to move Cadence to. I liked it A LOT!! Well, except for the elevator ride, I liked it. OMG, I practically had a panic attack. The elevator is tiny & SLOW!! Slowest elevator I've ever been on. Anyway, the daycare is VERY high tech - checking kids in & out on a screen & it was very clean & well lit & had a rock wall - Cadence will LOVE that!
Her move date is probably going to be around 5/15. I'm very excited to not only have her closer to home but out of the Y. I mean it wasn't horrible, I've seen horrible (hello Chai & Tae's daycare - HORRIBLE!), but I just didn't get the warm & fuzzy feeling I was hoping for - I did get it at this daycare though.

Baby Babbling…

Got this from a friend of a friends blog - it looks pretty cool, thought I'd give it a try!

How far along? 21 wks & 4 days

Total weight gain/loss: 3 lbs

Maternity clothes? nope

Stretch marks? Ha - sure, I'll blame them on this pregnancy

Sleep: no problem falling asleep, but get up numerous times to go to the bathroom

Best moment this week: watching Cadence see the baby at the u/s

Movement: yes - lots of movement - loving it!

Food cravings: not really - last nite I was craving meat…like a turkery burger or a chicken breast.. Anything - just meat!

Gender: don't know :(

Labor Signs:
no - little too early

Belly Button in or out?

What I miss: less bathroom breaks.

What I am looking forward to: finding out what the baby is

Weekly Wisdom: find a nice u/s tech especially when taking your child to see their sibling for the first time

Happy Easter!

Today was pretty laid back & quiet. We got up & Cadence was READY to look for eggs.
After a little stretch & smile, we were off to hunt.

She was quite happy to see her Easter basket, sidewalk chalk, Bolt movie, bubbles & strawberry plant!

She was on a roll finding her eggs...

Then she emptied her entire Easter basket to check out all her goods.

Later she saw the bike the Easter Bunny left in the backyard for her! She was so happy.

She ate some candy for breakfast & played w/the chalk.

Nana stopped by w/her Easter present - a new dvd.
That afternoon, we headed over to Dennis' mom's for lunch. It was yummy…ham sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans & my favorite jello!!
Emily & Dallas stopped by & visited for a bit.
Emily took Cadence outside & played w/her bubbles.

Uncle Tim tried to help her ride a bike.

After a few hours, we headed home - all of us exhausted. Luckily we brought home leftovers b/c neither of us felt like cooking. We watched a Nora Roberts Lifetime movie, while Cadence watched her new movie from Nana & she crashed we're heading to bed.

Egg drops, parties & Easter Eve

This morning, since the daycare was closed, we watched Chai & Tae. Since today was Malachai's b/day party, Lisa asked if we'd run Chai to get his hair cut.
The guy (aka Fresh) did a really good job - Lisa was pleased and as many of you know, this is no easy task!

My mom came & picked up the boys & we headed out to The Church on Strayer's egg drop. It was PACKED as noted below!

It was a little chilly - but Cadence was ready to go - even if her face doesn't show it!

They had a bunch of eggs on the ground already & then had a helicopter come in & drop hundreds more...totaling over 50,000! 10 of them contained $500!

Cadence was able to get 4 - 3 filled w/carmels & 1 w/gum. She had fun but was practically trampled on.

We headed over the bowling alley for the party. It was fun & the kids ran themselves tired. I took quite a few pictures of them bowling - but was asked to stop b/c there was a tournment going on & I was distracting the bowlers. Hmmm...
Not to mention all the problems we had w/the screens - Lisa was so frustrated! Here is the guy fixing them AGAIN!

Well...this is a child's b/day take pics at a party...why schedule b/day parties on the same day as a tournament?

Chai celebrated his Golden Birthday w/a Scooby Cake!

Chai didn't feel well, so he didn't smile a lot during his present openings - but he was happy!

Cadence got a strike - didn't get a pic though :( And ended up w/a score of 65. That's usually what a bowl! Good to know my 4 yr old bowls better than me.
Lots of posed pics before everyone jetted - it was fun & Cadence was knocked out by the time we got home!

When we got home - Cadence watched tv for a bit & then it was egg coloring time.

We got her laid down & she fell asleep quickly - good thing, b/c I was almost out too. We got up & hid the eggs & made her basket & now we're off to bed - Happy Easter Eve!!
